Move Through Pain With This Technique!
Have you ever touched a hot stove and quickly jerked your hand away? We have an amazing pain system in our bodies that helps to protect us from things that will harm us.
Pain can be a great teacher to let us know that something is wrong.
Because pain is, well, painful, we often just want it to go away. We numb it with pain reliever medications, tinctures and rubs, which may provide temporary relief, but they don’t necessarily address what the pain is telling us. Perhaps there is an injury or an alignment issue that needs to be addressed. Maybe there is something internal that is sending off a signal.
What would it be if we took a minute to just listen to what the pain is teaching us? Watch this video for more.
Tip: Just sit with the area of pain and let it be there without trying to make it go away. Have no resistance to anything you may be feeling. No longer wishing that part of you wasn’t there. Take in some slow breaths and relax the body around the painful area. Allow the breath to be there with the pain. The dense area of the pain now having more space and it can perhaps shift a little. Perhaps the breath can invite the edges of the pain to begin to soften and float out with the exhale. Using the breath to work with whatever is there and trusting the pain to leave you when it’s done. Breathing it out.
