Set The Tone of Your Day By Changing One Simple Thing!
We cannot un-see or un-hear anything. Whatever we expose ourselves to goes directly into our minds. Remember that old saying, “Garbage in, garbage out!”? All the news, all the social media and political discord we expose ourselves to becomes part of our thought processes. If we label negativity as “garbage,” how much garbage are we wanting as a daily input into our minds? Does the garbage affect your mood?
When we first wake up, our early thoughts set the tone for the rest of our day. Research in communication shows that an overload of media exposure can affect your ability to enjoy life!
Tip: Notice the urges you may have to reach for your phone or other device. Just sit with those urges and acknowledge that they are there. Then change your focus and acknowledge that you are noticing and keep the attention there, on yourself. Take some time in the morning to just be with yourself. Set the tone of your day with meditation, with self reflection or self-care. Take some time to create the day you want. Set your mood yourself without any outside influences. Have a better day.
